1. Fitness Ratings – Explanation

Go Girl Mountain Adventures offers a variety of adventure tours and a variety of activities with each. It is very important you choose a trip that will provide the most enjoyment and therefore it is really important that you choose the adventure that is most suitable to your fitness level. To guide you with this, each adventure has a fitness level rating as follows:

Novice – this is a basic entry level of fitness and only requires that you are in basically good health. The choice is yours whether you want to participate in some or all of the activities along the way. Sometimes this style is quite suitable to women of different fitness levels traveling together and for women who are first timers at adventure tourism and are a bit unsure of what their fitness level is.

Moderate – This level is where the fitness conditioning is necessary. For this level, one must be able to walk minimum of 45 minutes four times a week. This should include some hill climbing, path walking, other than concrete surfaces. It is a fact that women do register for adventure tours to improve on their fitness levels so if you are not quite up to this level of fitness when registering, do expect to be more exhausted that normal at the end of each day.

Advanced- Now this level is geared towards gals who are accustomed to a regular cardio-vascular workout for four times a week. This can include bicycling, running, jogging, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, or swimming raising the heart rate but you can still talk in short sentences. Technically, the heart rate must reach and maintain an aerobic level of 70 – 80 % for 35 to 40 minutes. For those people who do not own a personal heart rate monitor, it is quite safe to use the “short sentence” measure.

*please note that “walking” was excluded from the list. If you want to include that as an option, you must include vigorous hill climbing in obtain the required heart rate levels.
